Flagstaff AZ to Crestline CA 431 miles
Got up at 6am after a terrible night’s lack of sleep. Worried now about the day’s driving, but we set off at 8:30. Very cold morning in Flagstaff. Another problem with blocked toilet, Mick this time, but he managed to resolve it. Drove an hour to the Roadkill Café in Seligman and had breakfast there, which was good. I drove some and we changed drivers often today – very sensible. Had few stops but got to LA county and began to climb. This place Mick found is way up in the hills, lots of tight bends on road and about 25 miles out of the city. Looks like a posh community – lots of holiday homes for LA wealthy maybe. The house was freezing inside when we arrived despite it being 26C outside, and we couldn’t get heating started, so eventually called the owner on her home phone. She was in DC, but got a woman to come and try to fix heating. We eventually got it going, left it on and walked out to the village. Had a couple of beers and pizza in the local pizza house – lovely.
Got back and booked an Airbnb in Templeton. Played two late games of crib – lost first badly, second on final play where I was one short! So it’s 11-5 down now. Charlton beat Luton 3-1 today. LTFC haven’t lost for 28 games and are well top, so great win. CAFC well ensconced in playoffs in Div 3. Went to bed at 11. Strange little house. Called Carylon but she was out. Texted me at 11pm but missed it. Woke at 1:30 unable to sleep again – getting v worrying now. Went to sleep at 3pm and slept till 7am, which was great. In the night I got up and turned heating up as it was so cold in basement room; at some other point Mick got up and turned heating down as it was so hot in top bedroom! Lazy morning, good to have a lie in and read all the football details from yesterday.
