Las Vegas NM to Flagstaff AZ 444 miles
Awake at 4:20 and then Meg called and woke me properly. I had to tell her I couldn’t speak as Mick was asleep. Odd being in hotel room and hotel was not good as it used to be. Mick says he won’t go to hotels again! No drinks after 8pm …!!!
Got up at 6am and showered as we were leaving at 7:30. Felt much better after wobbles of yesterday. Drove first out of Amarillo and we stopped for breakfast at Wow Café just after Grant on I-40. Great café and breakfast. By 12 noon we had done 200 miles. Couple more stops and we arrived early at Flagstaff – boy in diner told us that Arizona keeps same time all year, so we had an hour in hand. Got to Flag at 3pm and had to kill an hour getting some fruit in Fry’s supermarket. The woman who owns this property is full of shit about how good it is. We found it fine, easy, but it’s really overpriced compared to others we’ve stayed in. having said that it’s better than a hotel. At 6:30 we went down to town and had a strong beer in a sports bar. Then finally it started raining, as had been threatened all day on news. However, soon stopped and we walked home, had two games of crib which finished 1-1. It’s now 5-9 overall.
Checked out Airbnb for Las Vegas NV, but couldn’t find anywhere cheap or good for tomorrow night. So looked at hotels then decided to change area and found good place in Crestline Ca, which is on edge of LA. Pricey still, but …
