Chicago
Mick picked me up at 11.15 and Roo drove us to LGW. Lunch in airport and flight at 4pm; left on time, Norwegian, and arrived at Chicago O’Hare ahead of schedule at 18.15 Chicago time. Good flight, apart from fidgety fat guy next to Mick.
Out of airport, accosted by a chancer who had our bags in his boot before we could think, offering a ride for “60 or 70 bucks” which luckily we refused, took back bags, got a regular taxi and it cost us $40 with a $7 tip, so good move. Arrived quickly at 2933 N Kedzie Ave for Airbnb – got in, great place, 3 beds, kitchen, front room, 2 toilets etc. Went out to get a drink, went S on same road, came to Logan Square, found El Cid bar, very easy place, busy, Mexican, had two swift glasses of IPA Laganitas and tried to engage young staff guy in conversation. He wasn’t giving much away but very friendly, so we made our way home. Bought some milk and tea bags at a corner shop. Asleep at 10.15 Chicago time.
