Friday 25th march
Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale
Mick picked me up at 11am and drove to LGW. Seemed no busier than normal although it was Good Friday, 25th March. Roo drove back. We got through security quickly in view of this week’s terrorism in Belgium. Ate a good breakfast around 12.30. Plane loaded at 2.29 and we left at 3.05. Norwegian new plane, a 787 Dreamliner, good trip, there in 9 hrs 30, bumpy towards the end.
Fort Lauderdale was steamy; big thunderstorms earlier in day, now very warm and humid; temperatures still over 80 F when we got car; found Ramada motel and checked in at 10.45pm. Both knackered but managed to find the Tiki bar and sink a couple of Stellas before bed. Unfortunately awake after 5 hours, at 5am Eastern time, so got breakfast and set off early in Nissan Versa, 4-door small sedan.
