24 Chapel Street
24 Chapel Street SW1X 7BY Beatles manager Brian Epstein moved into the house in January 1965; it would also be the scene of his death, aged just 32, in August 1967. On 19th May 1967 a small gathering of around a dozen journalists and disc jockeys were invited to 24 Chapel Street for the press launch of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. 50 years on, such a small domestic event seems rather a quaint way to launch such a huge album; what’s striking from the photos of the event is that there are no hordes of fans, so the invitees were obviously discreet about it. |
